Film Screening—The Wiz
As part of SLAM’s Festive Fridays celebration, The Wiz will be shown in the Museum’s Farrell Auditorium.
No tickets are required for this free program. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors to the auditorium open approximately 30 minutes before start time.
About the film
In this 1978 film, Dorothy, a kindergarten teacher in Harlem played by Diana Ross, gets caught in a Thanksgiving snowstorm while trying to catch her dog, Toto, and is whisked into an urban fantasy land called Oz. There she is told about the Wiz (Richard Pryor), who can help her get back home. Along the way, she meets the Scarecrow (Michael Jackson), the Tin Man (Nipsey Russell), and the Cowardly Lion (Ted Ross). Rated G. 134 minutes.
