FLOWER X ART: Cross-Pollination of Inspiration from Art and Flowers
Join Hitomi Gilliam, AIFD, for a fresh and inspiring demonstration and Q&A, live from her studio in British Columbia.
Botanical art takes a different approach than flower arrangement does. An arrangement combines specific flowers, such as peony or garden rose, to create an attractive composition. In botanical art, flowers are an element of design. The botanical artist composes them following the same principles as an artist painting on canvas, applying textural medium to a collage, or adding form to an assemblage. Fresh flowers can bring a breath of life in the artist’s response to a picture or a dynamic of growth to a sculpture.
This live virtual program will take place via Zoom and will include opportunities for participants to ask questions with the Q&A feature. Attendees’ mics and cameras will not be activated. This event will have automated closed captions.
