About the Kwanzaa Celebration
Our Kwanzaa 2026 theme is Ukwakheleana: Rooted in what we share.
Ukwakhelana is a Nguni word (found in languages like isiZulu and isiXhosa) that translates to “being neighborly,” “building together,” or fostering positive relationships within a community. Rooted in the philosophy of Ubuntu, it encompasses the spirit of mutual assistance, sharing, and living harmoniously with those around you. The theme is inspired by this African proverb: “A sister is both your mirror—and your opposite.”
Presented in partnership with Saint Louis Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This program is supported by The Dana Brown Endowed Fund for Education and Community Programs.
