The Museum’s conservation lab spent much of 2023 preparing several pre-1943 works on paper to be viewed in The Work of Art: The Federal Art Project, 1935–1943. Learn more about the challenging materials and the different techniques the artists used—and how these details informed Barbisan’s approach to treating these works.
