Member Lecture—Honoring Veteran Artists in The Work of Art: The Federal Art Project, 1935–1943
Join Amy Torbert, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Associate Curator of American Art, for a special Member Lecture series event.
In honor of Veterans Day, join Torbert, exhibition co‑curator, to learn about the many artists featured in The Work of Art: The Federal Art Project, 1935–1943 who served in the US armed forces during World War I or World War II. Explore how these military engagements shaped not only the artists’ individual careers but also the broader trajectory of 20th-century American art.
The exhibition will be open for viewing in Gallery 235 and the Sidney S. and Sadie M. Cohen Gallery 234 following the lecture.
