Members are invited to see Picturing Independence before it opens to the public. Explore a wide range of works to discover the meaning of revolution and how our national symbols have been portrayed over time.

10 am–noon, Cafe and Exhibition Galleries
Enjoy complimentary coffee or tea in the Cafe.
Chat with volunteer educators stationed in the exhibition galleries to answer your questions.
3–6 pm, Exhibition Galleries
Chat with volunteer educators stationed in the exhibition galleries to answer your questions.
4–8 pm, Sculpture Hall
Listen to live music by Pickin’ Buds.
Enjoy a drink at the cash bar.
6 pm, The Farrell Auditorium
Member Opening Lecture—Picturing Independence.
Advance tickets are recommended for the opening lecture as it is likely to sell out.
Ticket Information
Tickets are not required to view the exhibition. However, tickets are required to attend the opening lecture.
When available, advance tickets can be reserved in person or through MetroTix using your Member ticket code. All tickets reserved through MetroTix incur a service charge; the service charge is waived for tickets reserved at the Museum. For your ticket code or more information, visit slam.org/MemberTickets.
After Hours Event Entry
The Museum closes to the public at 5 pm. Taylor Hall, Sculpture Hall, the exhibition galleries, and the auditorium lobby will remain open to Members only after 5 pm.
Members arriving after 5 pm should enter through the East Building entrance or the parking garage.
