Experience the grandeur of ancient Rome with Hannah Segrave, associate curator of European Art to 1800, in an exclusive exploration of the exhibition Ancient Splendor: Roman Art in the Time of Trajan.
Discover how art, power, and daily life converged during the reign of one of Rome’s greatest emperors. Developed in collaboration with curators in Rome and Naples, this landmark exhibition brings Museum patrons face-to-face with the majesty of the Roman Empire through commanding imperial portraits, intricate luxury objects, and monumental architectural reliefs—many on view in the US for the first time. Join Segrave as she pulls back the curtain to reveal the visual language of empire at its height.
The exhibition Ancient Splendor: Roman Art in the Time of Trajan will be open following the lecture with the last entry at 8 pm. Please reserve exhibition tickets in advance to ensure availability.

After Hours Event Entry
The Museum’s Main Building will close at 5 pm. The East Building, Ticket Exhibitions Galleries, and the auditorium lobby will remain open to Members only after 5 pm.
Members arriving after 5 pm should enter through the East Building entrance or the Parking Garage.
