Member Opening Lecture—Unsettling the City
Member Lectures are available exclusively to Museum Members. Join today!
Explore the exhibition Unsettling the City: Julie Mehretu’s “Epigraph, Damascus” with Clare Kobasa, associate curator of prints, drawings, and photographs.
How do you communicate the story of a city? In the monumental print Epigraph, Damascus, artist Julie Mehretu uses various techniques to reflect on the devastation of the Syrian civil war. Join Kobasa for an illuminating discussion on Mehretu’s work alongside a selection of other artists that delve into the ideas of the city—how it’s imagined, represented, and redefined.
The exhibition will be open for viewing in Gallery 235 and Sidney S. and Sadie M. Cohen Gallery 234 following the lecture.
