Member Opening Lecture—Visions of Antiquity
Member Lectures are available exclusively to Museum Members. Join today!
Venture into classical antiquity with Clare Kobasa, associate curator of prints, drawings, and photographs, and explore the exhibition Visions of Antiquity.
Kobasa examines how artists across five centuries have reimagined the legacy of ancient Greece and Rome through works ranging from paintings and prints to sculptures and textiles. Discover how classical “order” has been both admired and challenged, exposing the fantasies, contradictions, and cultural anxieties that continue to shape our memory of antiquity today.
Gallery 235 and Sidney S. and Sadie M. Cohen Gallery 234 will be open following the lecture to view Visions of Antiquity.
