Natural Inspirations: A Conversation about Monet and Mitchell
The exhibition Monet/Mitchell: Painting the French Landscape is a unique collaboration among several organizations: the Musée Marmottan Monet, the Fondation Louis Vuitton, and the Saint Louis Art Museum. Curators will discuss how both artists depicted similar subjects of the natural world as well as the connections, both in subject matter and technique that Impressionist Claude Monet and Abstract Expressionist Joan Mitchell shared.
The panel will include Marianne Mathieu, former head curator at the Musée Marmatton Monet; Angéline Scherf, curator at the Fondation Louis Vuitton; and Simon Kelly, curator of modern and contemporary art at the Saint Louis Art Museum.
This program will be offered in person at the Museum’s Farrell Auditorium, and tickets are required. A live stream of the event also can be watched for free. See below for ticketing and registration information.
