Open Studio with SIUE—Art Hive
Drop into this Art Hive, an accessible, welcoming environment where participants can freely create whatever they wish, engaging in open-ended artistic exploration and meaningful conversations. Rooted in community building, Art Hives emphasize inclusivity, respect, and authentic connection. No previous art experience is necessary, and all are welcome! You can come and create, share ideas, or just enjoy the space.

About the program
Art Hives began in Montreal, Canada, as a movement dedicated to transforming underutilized spaces into vibrant hubs for creativity, conversation, and collaboration. Guided by principles of inclusion, openness, and learning, Art Hives foster responsive, community-driven approaches to meaningful issues.
The Art Hive will be facilitated by art therapy students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, supervised by professor Shelly Goebl-Parker. Since 2017, students in this department have collaborated with local and regional partners to host pop-up Art Hives across the SIUE campus, throughout the bistate metro area, and online.

Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
