Private Collection Tour: Robert A. & Carol E. Powell
Please join the Friends of African American Art for a special tour of a private local collection. The collectors’ journey began in 1989 with the birth of Portfolio, Inc. (Portfolio Gallery and Educational Center). The collection was built to support and elevate the African American artist who too often was an unknown commodity and seldom seen in galleries and museums. Their collection consists of original and limited-edition paintings, drawings, photography, textiles, etchings, printmaking, mixed-media, and sculpture, and was collected to enjoy and share with family, friends and the public.
Bus departure from the Museum’s auditorium back entrance is at 10am. Please park on Valley Drive behind the Museum, accessed via Fine Arts Drive on the east side (zoo side) of the Museum.
Spaces are limited. Registration is required. RSVP before October 21 at 314.655.5390 or collectors.circle@slam.org.
Collectors Circle programs at the Saint Louis Art Museum are presented by the Betsy and Thomas Patterson Foundation
