ReBellion Handbell Ensemble Holiday Performance
As part of SLAM’s Festive Fridays celebration, ReBellion Handbell Ensemble will perform carols and other seasonal music in Grigg Gallery.
No tickets are required for this free program. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
About the performance
This performance will feature a smaller ensemble of 7 ringers, showcasing 3 octaves of handbells. As that number of bells is usually distributed across 10-11 ringers, this modified arrangement allows the ringers to demonstrate various techniques such as four-in-hand ringing. This also gives an opportunity to the two ringers assigned to the bass clef to work very closely to execute all the required notes and rhythms. In addition to multiple sacred Christmas tunes, arranged by Kevin McChesney and Ronald Kauffmann, this program will also include several secular duets, arranged by Larry Sue.
About the performers
Founded in 2009, ReBellion Handbell Ensemble is an auditioned community ensemble of St. Louis–area musicians, united by a shared passion for performance excellence. ReBellion is also committed to sharing music in and with the St. Louis community wherever and whenever possible. With that goal in mind, in recent seasons ringers from ReBellion have formed smaller ensembles as well, which have rung in a wide variety of venues. No matter the size of the group, ReBellion works diligently as a team to share exciting repertoire and delight their audiences.
