Rhythm and Flow: Hip Hop and Creative Writing Teacher Workshop
Current and preservice teachers are invited to join us for a Teacher Workshop inspired by the exhibition The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century, on view at the Saint Louis Art Museum from August 19, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
Following a visit to the exhibition, teachers will engage in hands-on writing activities led by local high school teacher and artist Nana Becoat, focusing on creative writing in response to themes and artworks in the exhibition. During the workshop, teachers will learn examples of successful projects that engage students with writing, art, and hip hop in classroom settings; receive takeaway resources; and have opportunities to share ideas with one another.
Lunch and materials will be provided. Enrollment is free. Space is limited, and enrollment requests are considered with regard to equitable school and/or school district representation. Complete the teacher workshop application using the Learn More button below to submit an enrollment request.
