SLAM Cinema—Funny Face
Directed by Stanley Donen, Funny Face (1957) follows Dick Avery (Fred Astaire), a fashion photographer for Quality Magazine, who discovers Jo Stockton (Audrey Hepburn), a shy, bohemian Greenwich Village bookstore clerk with a uniquely striking face. Though reluctant to join the fashion industry, Jo agrees to travel to Paris as the magazine’s new face so she can attend lectures by her intellectual idol, philosopher Émile Flostre. Amid high-fashion photo shoots set against iconic French landmarks, Dick and Jo spark an unexpected romance, navigating the clash between intellectual idealism and high-society glamour. Not rated, 1 hour 43 minutes.
