SLAM Cinema—Moonstruck
Directed by Norman Jewison, Moonstruck (1987) follows Loretta Castorini (Cher), a practical, superstitious Italian American widow in Brooklyn who agrees to marry her sensible but dull fiancé, Johnny Cammareri (Danny Aiello). When Johnny travels to Sicily to visit his dying mother, he asks Loretta to invite his estranged, hot-tempered younger brother Ronny (Nicolas Cage) to the wedding. However, an immediate, passionate spark ignites between Loretta and Ronny, throwing her structured world into chaos as the rest of her eccentric family navigates their own romantic secrets under the spell of a full moon. Rated PG, 1 hour 42 minutes.
Judith W. Mann, senior curator of European art to 1800, will give an introduction ahead of the screening.
