SLAM Cinema—Peter Hujar’s Day
Directed by Ira Sachs, Peter Hujar’s Day (2025) brings to life a real-life 1974 audio recording between writer Linda Rosenkrantz (Rebecca Hall) and underground portrait photographer Peter Hujar (Ben Whishaw). Over the course of an intimate afternoon, Hujar recounts the mundane, poignant, and vibrant details of a single 24-hour period, offering a candid glimpse into his personal life, creative struggles, and encounters within New York City’s downtown avant-garde art scene. Not rated, 1 hour 16 minutes.
Eric Lutz, associate curator of prints, drawings, and photographs, will give an introduction ahead of the screening.
