SLAM Cinema—Rashomon
Directed by Akira Kurosawa, Rashomon (1950) centers on the murder of a samurai and the assault of his wife in a dense Japanese forest. As the story unfolds, four different witnesses—a notorious bandit, the samurai’s wife, the deceased samurai through a medium, and a hidden woodcutter—recount wildly conflicting versions of the crime, each tailored to protect their own ego and honor. Through its innovative narrative structure, the film presents a profound exploration of subjective truth, human self-deception, and the elusive nature of reality. Not rated, 1 hour 28 minutes.
