Teacher Workshop: Age of Armor
Join us for a teacher workshop featuring the exhibition Age of Armor: Treasures from the Higgins Armory Collection at the Worcester Art Museum.
In this teacher workshop, area educators across grade levels and disciplines will have an opportunity to visit the exhibition and learn about the history and development of plate armor from 1300 until the present day. Participants will then draw on the exhibition for inspiration in designing game components, including drawing an avatar and writing storylines with contemporary game design programs that can be easily translated to classroom learning. As part of the workshop, teachers will learn about core elements of game design, related career pathways, and contemporary platforms for youth audiences from Caleb Sawyer, founder of NerdyBits.com, game podcast producer, and professor of Game Design at Webster University. Teachers will leave the workshop with resources for integrating writing, visual art, and game design into classroom learning.
Lunch and materials will be provided. Please bring a personal laptop or tablet if you have one available.
Enrollment is free, and is on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited and enrollment requests are considered with regard to equitable school and/or school district representation.
