Teacher Workshop with artist Oscar Murillo
Current and pre-service teachers are invited to join us for a special opportunity to engage in person with the artist Oscar Murillo through an educator workshop.
During the workshop, Murillo will discuss his artistic process, artwork in the Currents 121 exhibition, and his Frequencies project. Participants will visit Currents 121 and view Murillo’s work, as well as selections of canvases from the Frequencies project that will be on view at the Saint Louis Art Museum.
Following the artist talk and gallery visit, Saint Louis Art Museum educators will guide participants through a hands-on, collaborative painting project inspired by Murillo’s practice. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with materials and explore themes related to Murillo’ work. The artwork created in these workshops will be installed in the Museum’s Student Gallery and on view for all museum visitors. Lunch and materials will be provided.
Enrollment is free, and is on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited and enrollment requests are considered with regard to equitable school and/or school district representation. Enrollment requests are due no later than March 14, 2022.
All in-person attendees ages 12 and older for this program will be required to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or proof of a medically supervised negative test administered within 48 hours of the event, along with photo ID. Self-administered tests will not be accepted.
