Virtual Art in Bloom 2021

Celebrate spring with the virtual return of our annual celebration of art and flowers! This year, Art in Bloom features inspiring new ways to experience flora in art and the natural world, all from the comfort of home. All programs are presented online. For the safety of visitors and staff, there will be no floral displays on view in the Museum galleries.
The festival includes an engaging presentation with a Museum curator, a guided-looking experience featuring a floral work in the collection, nature-inspired programs for children, a floral arranging demonstration with local florists, and a behind-the-scenes tour of an urban flower farm in St. Louis.
On demand programs are available through March 31, 2021.

Art Speaks: Floral Motifs on Chinese Blue-and-White Porcelains
Curator of Asian art Philip Hu discusses the delicate floral motifs on Chinese blue-and-white porcelain of the Yuan and Ming dynasties from the Museum’s collection, explore the methods used to create the objects, the utilization and relevance of the objects during that period, and the symbolic significance of the flowers and plants that adorn them.
