Virtual Teacher Workshop: Storytelling in Art
Current and pre-service teachers are invited to join us for the Virtual Teacher Workshop: Storytelling in Art. Participants will be introduced to the newly launched Storytelling in Art Self-Directed Virtual Field Trip and learn tools for engaging with visual art through the lens of writing and storytelling. The workshop will begin with an introduction to the theme, followed by activities designed to help students explore elements of stories in visual art, including looking prompts, open-ended questions, sketching, and movement. Participants will then make two different types of artist books for recording and sharing stories, which can be adapted for a variety of age groups and disciplines. Material kits will be provided to registrants in advance.
The workshop will be held via Zoom meeting. Participants will have the ability to share video and audio. Enrollment is free and open to active and pre-service educators on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited and enrollment requests are considered with regard to equitable school and/or school district representation. Enrollment requests are due no later than November 30, 2021.
