Southwest Weavings: 800 Years of Artistic Exchange

The contemporary international border between United States and Mexico was largely established in 1848. Previously, much of this territory made up parts of Mexico and, before 1821, colonial New Spain. Centuries before European colonists first claimed the territory Indigenous peoples interacted across this vast region.
