Amanda Thompson Rundahl joined the Saint Louis Art Museum in 2014 as director of learning and engagement, overseeing the museum’s library and archives, education, art interpretation, public programming and evaluation initiatives.
Prior to SLAM, she spent 16 years at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), where she served in several roles, culminating with innovation engineer and head of interpretation and participatory experiences. During her tenure at Mia, Rundahl curated or co-curated the exhibitions “Sacred/Practice” (2014), “Young People’s Ofrendas: Expressions of Life and Remembrance” (2011, 2012, 2013), “Border Crossing: Luis Jiménez and José Clemente Orozco” (2012-2013) and “Continuous Threads: Prestige and Identity in Latin America” (2013).
She has held adjunct teaching positions at the Minnesota School of Business, Pine Technical College and the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
Rundahl graduated magna cum laude from St. Olaf College with majors in in art history and Spanish. She earned a graduate certificate in museum studies and a graduate degree in Latin American and Caribbean studies from New York University. She is an alumna of Leadership St. Louis and has served on American Alliance of Museums committees as well as and the boards of the East Central Regional Arts Council, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts and Museum Education Roundtable.
