ST. LOUIS, April 25, 2024 The annual Art Hill Film Series returns this summer with two consecutive weekends of movies in July that were chosen by the St. Louis community.

This year, film series fans voted for the films they wanted to see on the big screen, selecting from a list of previously shown movies. “Back to the Future” was chosen for July 12, and “Meet Me in St. Louis” will be screened on July 19.

Science fiction blockbuster “Back to the Future” begins with an experiment gone wrong that sends California teen Marty McFly to the 1950s. His friend and neighbor, an eccentric scientist named Doc Brown, must return the teenager to the future before he causes irreversible damage to the timeline. The film is rated PG and has a running time of 116 minutes.

A musical comedy starring Judy Garland, “Meet Me in St. Louis” follows a year in the life of the wealthy Smith family. As the 1904 World’s Fair approaches, the Smith family’s four daughters and one son find their place in the world through song and dance. The film is unrated and 113 minutes long. Additionally, 2024 is the 120th anniversary of the World’s Fair.

Both weekends will include music beginning at 6 pm and food trucks provided by Sauce Magazine. Coolers and picnic baskets are welcome, or guests can purchase drinks from the Panorama tent or food from the museum’s cafe. Free parking and seating at the Art Hill Film Series will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

All films are free and begin once it gets dark around 9 pm. In the event of bad weather, the museum will announce any delay or cancellation on Facebook, Instagram and slam.org.
