ST. LOUIS, August 26, 2025—Daniella Statia has joined the Saint Louis Art Museum as the 2025-2027 Romare Bearden Graduate Museum Fellow.
Named for artist Romare Bearden, the two-year, paid fellowship provides hands-on experience working throughout the museum on specific assignments tailored to the fellow’s background and interests.
Daniella Statia holds a master of arts degree in art history with a focus on Blackness and Indigeneity in modern art of the Americas from Tulane University. As a graduate student, she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Tulane and interned at the Beauregard-Keyes Historic House in New Orleans. Statia received a bachelor of arts degree in art history and Spanish studies with a minor in museum studies from the University of Delaware. During this time, she interned at the Delaware Historical Society in the education department and helped curate the university’s online collection “Black Portrait Photography Collection.”
Statia will join Maggie Brown-Peoples, the 2024-2026 Romare Bearden fellow.
In 2021, the museum expanded the program, which began 34 years ago, from a one-year paid fellowship to a two-year paid fellowship. A new fellow begins work each year, which allows first-year fellows to work closely with those completing their second year of the program. Past fellows have gone on to hold key positions at the Saint Louis Art Museum as well as at other noteworthy museums and universities, including the Art Institute of Chicago, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and University of Texas at Austin.
