Collection catalogue published 2017

In 2011 Mark S. Weil committed the collection of old master prints, drawings, and sculpture, which he had built over many years with his first wife, Phoebe Dent Weil, to the Saint Louis Art Museum, placing it in an Irrevocable Trust to come to the Museum upon his death. The forty sculptures, one painting, and over one hundred works on paper will fundamentally transform the Museum’s collection. To honor such an extraordinary gift, the Museum produced an exhibition and catalogue consisting of a selection of twenty-eight sculptures and over fifty prints and drawings. The book is arranged according to seven thematic sections that are designed to demonstrate the high quality of these works, and also to better understand their respective periods, movements, creators, and functions. Each artwork is illustrated with new color photography. A full checklist of the contents of the Irrevocable Trust, a bibliography, and an index are also included.
