Collection catalogue published 2019

This publication coincided with an exhibition drawn from the gift of St. Louis collector John Foster. A collection of what one could call vernacular or amateur photographs. The gift comprised 150 photographic prints, mostly black and white photographs with some in color or hand-colored. All artworks are illustrated with new digital imagery and reproduced at actual size. Most works are rather small scale at 3 x 5 inches, and the date range spans 1890–1975, with most falling between 1920–40. The catalogue text includes a short scholarly essay by the curator and an introductory statement by the collector.
