The Saint Louis Art Museum seeks active pre-K–12 teachers from St. Louis city and county public, private, and parochial schools for a Teacher Advisory Group (TAG). The cohort of teachers will represent a range of focus areas and identities, both in themselves and in the populations they teach. Teacher Advisory Group members specialize in a variety of subject areas, including visual art, elementary general education, social studies, history, language arts, foreign languages, natural sciences, and special education. Teachers across disciplines and grade levels with an interest in connecting students and curriculum with original works of art and museum spaces are encouraged to apply.
Teacher Advisory Group members will:
- Participate in four in-person meetings per year, each not to exceed three hours in length. Meetings will take place at the Saint Louis Art Museum in the late afternoon/early evening after school.
- Support classroom learning by advising on meaningful and useful Museum resources and programs that align with current local, state, and national goals and standards and meet the needs of a wide spectrum of teachers and students.
- Contribute a modest amount of written and verbal review of written resource materials.
- Provide feedback and creative input on Museum programs, resources, and initiatives.
- Act as liaisons between the Museum and school communities, sharing valuable information and school system developments with Museum staff and sharing Saint Louis Art Museum resources and programs with colleagues.
- Commit to one full year of service, from January 2025 through December 2025.
Benefits:
- Receive an honorarium of $200 for each TAG meeting attended. (Attendance is expected at all meetings during the term of service. Teachers who repeatedly miss meetings may not be allowed to continue serving on the TAG.)
- Meet and collaborate with colleagues from different disciplines throughout the St. Louis area.
- Learn about upcoming exhibitions and resources at the Museum, and meet with members of the Museum’s staff.
- Help shape student and teacher programming by sharing thoughtful ideas, insights, and feedback.
- Be acknowledged on the Museum’s Teacher and Student Learning webpage.
- Refreshments will be provided for in-person meetings.
2025 Meeting Schedule:
Tuesday, Feb 18, 4:30-7:30
Tuesday, May 6, 4:30-7:30
Tuesday, September 16, 4:30-7:30
Tuesday, November 11, 4:30-7:30
Meetings are held onsite at the Saint Louis Art Museum.
The Teacher Advisory Group is supported by a grant from the Trio Foundation of Saint Louis
To apply:
Submit the Teacher Advisory Group Application and a current résumé. The Teacher Advisory Group is comprised of just 12 teachers, and therefore, the selection process is competitive. The selection process is designed to create a TAG of highly motivated teachers who represent a range of grade levels, subject areas, and different types of schools in St. Louis city and county. After reviewing application materials, the Museum will invite a selection of applicants to participate in a short conversation with Learning and Engagement staff as part of the selection process.
Applications for the 2025 Teacher Advisory Group are now closed.
