NOTES
Resting on a transparent base, a gray glass cube appears to hover in midair. Larry Bell became interested in light, surface, and edge while working in a frame shop as an art student in Los Angeles. Using traditional framing materials such as metal, glass, and Plexiglas, Bell created sculptural objects greatly dependent on their immediate environments—such as the transient play of light. The semi-reflective surface of the cube incorporates the light and space of its surroundings.
