NOTES
This lithograph shows Henri Fantin-Latour's two sisters, Nathalie and Marie, seated in proximity and working at an embroidery frame. The scene is one of quiet intimacy, infused with a gentle atmospheric light coming in from the window at the left and rendered in soft, impressionistic lines. Fantin-Latour depicted the subject and arrangement of The Embroiderers many times in his career.
