NOTES
The bright colors and irregular, overlapping shapes of Stuart Davis's Feasible #2 suggest the effect of layered pieces of paper in a collage. Davis addressed himself to formal issues of color and composition to avoid an emphasis on subject matter. Although Davis was an important precursor of the Abstract Expressionists, he never fully embraced their work.
