NOTES
Bright colors, lively border designs, and a stepped central arch with a bold point characterize this small prayer carpet. In the horizontal panel above the arch are seven stylized geometric tulips, a flower native to Anatolia (present-day Turkey). This prayer carpet was woven in Ladik, a market town in Konya Province in south-central Anatolia. Carpets of this type were often given as offerings to mosques and shrines.
