New York, J.P. Putnam, 1867].
[2] The painting was lot no. 95 at a December 1888 auction of McGuire's collection at Thomas Dowling's auction house in Washington, D.C. [Dowling, Thomas. Catalogue of the collection of paintings, statuary, bronzes, &c. belonging to the estate of the late James C. McGuire to be sold by order of his executors on December 10th, and following days, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the salesrooms of Thomas Dowling. Washington, D.C., Thomas Dowling, 1888, p. 25].
