NOTES
Lenore Asbury's hazy foliage and soft shades of blue and green in this plaque evoke the mood of tonalist painting, which was characterized by a subdued palette and misty scenery. The plaque's rectangular format and strong sense of receding space, along with the placement of the artist's signature at lower left, suggest further connections to traditional landscape painting.
