NOTES
In this photograph of three young children, seated next to each other, artist Anna Kuperberg illustrates three different expressions of childhood curiosity. The child on the left stares out at the photographer. His chin rests on his palm, his elbow rests on his knee, with fingers curled around his mouth, in a position typical of thinking. He seems to be openly curious and pondering deeply all that is happening in front of him. The child in the center also looks directly at the photographer, leaning back on one arm for support, curious, but a bit hesitant about what is taking place. The third child ignores the photographer, and what is going on entirely, and is completely absorbed in studying a bare foot. This photograph reveals Kuperberg's ability to capture children on their own terms.
