NOTES
In this photograph the spindly limbs and Spanish moss of an aged oak tree in a pasture are enlivened by bright sunlight and swirling gusts of wind. Karen Halverson has called this image her "whirling dervish." It is one of many stunning large-scale color images of trees in the American West created by the artist, which she considers to be intimate portraits. In focusing intently on form, texture, and color, Halverson conveys a vibrant sense of individual character.
