NOTES
Moccasins and leggings, meant to be worn together, enclosed the legs from ankle to knee. During the early reservation era on the Plains, women and girls wore such lavishly embroidered articles for special occasions. Elaborate dress ensembles also included dresses, belts, and necklaces.
