[1] Edward A. Faust purchased the triptych from F. Kleinberger Galleries, who imported the painting from Europe, according to the SLAM accession record [SLAM document files].
[2] Edward A. Faust lent the triptych to the Museum in 1917. When it was lent, the triptych was identified as being by the hand of Erasmus [“Works of Art Loaned the Museum,” Bulletin of the City Art Museum of St. Louis, Sept. 1917, p. 7-8]. The triptych passed by inheritance to Edward Faust’s son, Leicester Busch Faust, at an unknown date.
