NOTES
The earthy color palette of this cotton textile is made increasingly complex thanks to the ingenious use of overlapping stripes. Vuokko Nurmesniemi was a daring and accomplished colorist who critically influenced the early look of Finnish fashion and textile manufacturer Marimekko. While technically a four-color print, many more subtle hues are detectable in this example of "Rötti," one of her earliest and best-known textile designs.
