[1] When Edward Mallinckrodt Sr. died in 1928 he left his collection to the Museum under the condition that it stay in the care of his son and daughter-in-law, Edward Mallinckrodt Jr. and Elizabeth Baker Elliot Mallinckrodt, until their deaths [letter from Peter Belin dated March 8, 1965, SLAM document files].
