RESCHEDULED–Teen Takeover: Submerged
This event orginally was scheduled for Friday, February 16. Due to weather, it has been rescheduled to Sunday, February 18.
Sink into an underwater exploration with the artist collective, Whoop Dee Doo! Organized by SLAM’s Teen Arts Council, this event celebrates the opening of Matisse and the Sea and highlights sea inspiration throughout the Museum’s collection with a boat race, immersive variety show, collaborative installation artwork, photo booth, free snacks, and more! No tickets or reservations are required to attend.

Teen Takeover schedule
- Teen Lounge, 1-4 pm, Student Gallery
- Fish Prints and Paper Boat Competitions, 1-4 pm, Concourse
- Message in a Bottle, Scavenger Hunt, 1-4 pm, Galleries
- Whoop Dee Doo Performance featuring Dances of India at 2 pm, 3pm, and 4 pm, Education Center (Seating for these performances is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.)
Whoop Dee Doo is an artist-led organization that creates live performances and immersive installations as part of an extensive community engagement initiative. Each project engages the immediate communities of the organization with which they partner, and they work closely with youth and nonprofit groups to research, conceive, and create their programming. Their process emphasizes collaboration and seeks to initiate a cross-generational dialogue.
