Teen Takeover—Toga Party
Join the Teen Arts Council for a Toga Party. This event is planned by teens for teens.
Enjoy an evening inspired by Ancient Splendor: Roman Art in the Time of Trajan with the SLAM Teen Arts Council.
This event will feature short, 15-minute plays about the Roman emperor Caligula by the Metro Theater Company taking place in the ticketed exhibition galleries; giant paper mosaic making with mosaic artist Sue Giannotti; a toga-making fashion competition; a collaborative statue painting activity inspired by classic art by artist Frank Edwin Elwell; and free snacks!
You must have a timed ticket to enter Ancient Splendor: Roman Art in the Time of Trajan. Please visit the welcome desk for information about tickets to the exhibition. Be aware that tickets for a particular timed entry may sell out.

Teen Takeover schedule
5:30–8 pm, Education Center
Enjoy free snacks, a collaborative mosaic mural with artist Sue Gianotti, and a collaborative sculpture painting activity led by the Saint Louis Art Museum Teen Arts Council.
5:30–8 pm, Energizer Classroom
Toga creation costume contest. Try your hand at creating your own toga fashion and photograph your creation for a chance to win a prize. Winner announced at 7:30 pm. You must be present to win.
5–8 pm, Anabeth and John Weil Gallery 251
Pick up a timed ticket for the Ancient Splendor exhibition from the Education Center welcome table. Explore the exhibition with your friends and catch Metro Theatre Company’s 15-minute play in Anabeth and John Weil Gallery 251. Shows start every 30 minutes beginning 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30, 7, and 7:30 pm.
About the Teen Arts Council
The Saint Louis Art Museum Teen Arts Council is built upon the philosophy that teens are integral in the design and implementation of teen programs at the Museum. The mission of the Teen Arts Council is to be an active, creative, and influential voice in the Museum.
TAC members are exposed to many facets of the Museum including our collection and exhibitions and inform teen programming in order to build a greater teen audience at the Saint Louis Art Museum. In addition to planning the annual Young Artists Exhibition, TAC members receive behind-the-scenes Museum experiences, participate in arts workshops, and take field trips to local arts organizations.

About Sue Giannotti
Sue Giannotti is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and is the founder of Mosaic Opus Studio, where she creates original mosaic artworks and architectural commissions. Originally trained in Italy, she uses millennia-tested tools, techniques, and materials to create contemporary work.
