Student programs at the Saint Louis Art Museum are more than a field trip! Visits to the Museum strengthen students’ critical thinking skills, inspire curiosity, and nurture creativity. Join our educators for a guided experience or choose your own adventure with a self-guided visit! Our programs are:

Transportation Assistance
The Museum provides a limited amount of transportation assistance to qualifying pre-K–12 schools and community organizations.
Early Access
See it first! Student groups may visit select exhibitions before the Museum’s public hours. In 2026, early entry is available Tuesday–Thursday, beginning at 9:30 am.

When should I book my tour?
Please request your tour at least four weeks in advance.

Will the tour cover the whole Museum?
Tours may include multiple sections of the Museum, but it is not possible to cover the entire collection in a single tour. Please include any specific areas of interest in your tour request.

Will the entire group tour together?
Groups larger than 20 will be asked to split into smaller groups for guided visits. We can accommodate groups of up to 75 for guided and self-guided visits. Groups larger than 75 may be asked to split into different rotations.

Can students explore on their own?
Youth under 18 may not wander the Museum unaccompanied, including on self-guided tours. We require at least 1 adult be present for every 10 students at all times.

What should I bring?
All necessary materials are provided for tours and workshops. Students may wish to bring notebooks and pencils. Please note that food and drink are not permitted in the Museum unless medically necessary.
